From Blight to Bright: The Remarkable Transformation of an Abandoned Hospital

#image_title

Outside of a major US city, rises a remarkable adaptive reuse project.  Welcome to Bloomhaven, the transformation of a vacant, blighted, 100 year old hospital complex in Aurora, Illinois.  The site is now home to: Weston Bridges, a 49-unit independent apartment community for adults with intellectual disabilities; Bardwell Residences: a recently opened, 99-unit senior living facility;  Aurora school district headquarters with medical facilities and services to come.  As operations begin, so are new relationships between the seniors and the adults at Weston Bridges, a beautiful coalescing.

As various commercial real estate sectors fall out of favor, we expect to see more adaptive reuse come into play.  UC Funds is a leading, active adaptive reuse lender and has the experience and real estate expertise to partner on transformative projects.  An innovative and trusted, private CRE lender, UC Funds, saw the vision for this project and supported the sponsors with a first mortgage on the conversion.
